About

Harrison White is a photojournalist at WSMV, the NBC affiliate station in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. He shoots and edits package stories for the 10pm newscast and runs live shots for a number of evening shows. White is also FAA Part 107 certified, which allows him to fly drones commercially. He enjoys getting aerial shots whenever possible to add more depth to his stories.

Previously, White was the Video Content Manager for FreightWaves, a freight and logistics startup. In this role, he wore a lot of hats. His main responsibilities were to ensure the quality of content across FreightWavesTV platforms in addition to editing shows and sponsored content. He also ran cameras, floor directed, switched live shows, scheduled livestream content on Brightcove, wrote titles/descriptions for social media, and organized files on the NAS server.

FreightWavesTV was the first OTT streaming platform dedicated to freight and logistics news. Over the course of two and a half years, White helped grow the production from one show per day to dozens of live shows, virtual events, and sponsored content segments.

White graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 2016, earning a double-major degree in Communication and Spanish. He received two college Associated Press awards for Best TV News Story and Best Topic Reporting for the campus broadcast called Mocs News.

White started his career in local news as a photojournalist for WRCB, the NBC affiliate station in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

When he's not behind the camera, White enjoys being outdoors, hiking, riding bikes, playing guitar, reading, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

Mission Statement

I am fascinated about the way the world works and the people that make it happen. God calls me to show this through photography and video. I like meeting "characters" and getting to know them. I enjoy learning about architecture, design, and the inner workings of society. Curiosity drives me to ask questions about our world and attempt to make sense of it through the lens of a camera. At the very least, I hope to peel back some of the layers.
